| After World War II, the U.S. Navy built a breakwater at Apra Harbor to protect American vessels traveling in and out of the harbor. They named the breakwater in honor of Captain Henry Glass, the Navy officer that captured Guam from the Spanish during the Spanish-American War in 1898. |
