Customs Regulations |
Customs checks are performed regularly upon arrival to Guam. Fruits, vegetables, flowers, plants and seeds are prohibited from entering Guam without proper authorization. Livestock, poultry, and meat products are also restricted from entering Guam without clearance. Information and applications to import such items can be obtained at the Guam Customs and Quarantine Agency; their telephone number is (671) 475-6202. Customs forms are available in four languages: English, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese.
When bringing prescription medicine, it is advisable to bring the prescription or a written statement from a physician. The punishment for bringing illegal narcotics to the island is a federal crime with a punishment of 10 years imprisonment. Pirated goods that violate U.S. copyright laws are also restricted from entry. These goods, for example, may include leather goods, cassette tapes, and clothing that have brand-name labels but are not manufactured or distributed by authorized dealers.
The requirements for entering Guam are the same as that of the United States. It is not necessary for U.S citizens to bring a passport, however, proof of U.S. citizenship is required in the form of a birth certificate or other valid form of identification. Visitors from other countries need to have a valid passport as well as a U.S. visa and an onward ticket and a visa for their next destination. Some countries are part of a recently introduced Guam-only visa waiver program. |
